Minor Threat is an American hardcore punk band formed in 1980 in Washington DC by vocalist Ian Mackaye and drummer Jeff Nelson. They formed Dischord records and have had a strong influence on the punk scene both stylistically and establishing a DIY ethic for music distribution and concert promotion. They are also notably known for the straight edge movement as well. Its many of these same ethos that Shepard, OBEY, and Glen all have in common.
